Having a deployable in the internal slot of a building gives you the deploy option, however nothing appears to happen.
Moving the deployable to a bot gives the bot the option to deploy, but the old attempt is still marked and I had trouble canceling it.
What worked was to use deploy from a bot, then abort it. That appears to remove the shimmering blue area of the deployable.
