If being fast is difficult, you can make it remember the last drop-down selected. I often use "idle bots". I set a task to a bot and to get to another idle bot I hava to wait again fro all Units to load before I can select Idle bots.
Even is "idle bots" button is fixed (does not work, say no idle bots while there are + no previous-next functionality) the "Units" "Idle bots" should be fast.
