| 3335 | 😀 | Suggestion | Drones are a fantastic concept, but the use cases tend to be crowded out by cheaper, more versatile options. If a bot is able to move items without a tether, and typically can move large amounts of items, then in the early game their use case would be best for structures, yet the portable transporter is unlocked early enough that logistics drones are effectively crowded out. I suggest reworking how these are unlocked. Internal drone components, and tier 1 drones, are unlocked early in the tech tree and replace the portable transporter. Small drone ports, and medium and large drone ports, are unlocked as you progress with a smattering of better, longer ranged freight drones. You also get basic mining drones, maybe attack drones too, on the main tech tree. Possibly some drone components that are uniquely equippable to drone-only slots, to give them some customsation options. But some functionality is gated to other tech trees - if I understand your aesthetic for Human tech Human drones will be faster, longer range, and better at resource extraction. If the aliens have a leaning towards offense then they might give stronger attack drones. Having some units with a special drone carrier synergy would be useful for mining drones - you might, forexample, have frames which can dok drones natively. | 2023-11-22 02:31:05 |
