It almost seems like you've discovered a way for the community of enthusiasts to contribute to the development. Was that intentional? 🙂 Please don't take this the wrong way on the contrary, I find it quite appealing. I believe this is what primarily captivates those who enjoy programming. On the other hand, it's very likely not appealing to the masses. However, if the game had a library of basic, simple scripts within it, along with tutorials on how to use them, and more advanced tutorials on how to connect these mini-scripts together, I'm confident it could have a positive impact on attracting a large group of people who aren't into programming. By this, I don't just mean a wiki, but a truly active in-game form. Perhaps some challenges that would guide players in creating scripts, starting from the simplest ones and progressing to more complex ones. It could also be worth considering some form of camps, training, or something similar, as the uniqueness of Desynced surely deserves it.
