The idea is the following: Imagine you would like to give out an acoustic warning when enemys approach. You could then trigger one (or even several chained) sounds to playback. Something like the following example. Radar detects an enemy > get coordinates > play sound "enemy detected" > play sound "@" > play sound "x 104" (or split into 4 commands: play sound "x", play sound "1", play sound "0", play sound "4") > play sounds for y coordinate like example from x coordinate. The possibilities would be endless, too. You could give out warnings when storages run out of materials, when world events are happening, when your scout explores something, whatever you could imagine. If there would be a "custom sound option" to choose, I bet a lot of people would love to make custom sound projects which then could be uploaded into the Steam Workshop aswell :) A behavior could look like this: Play sound > Search on HD for sound or Play sound > Open predifined sound folder for the game (like Desynced\CustomSounds) That would be super amazing I guess - what do you think? | 2024-02-19 04:29:21 | |

But I whish I had the following: - "private fields" that would work like current "parameters" (which kinda work like public fields, as we can change them from outside during execution), but would not be visible outside the script. Another way to say this is I want what's currently called "variables" to be listed at the top and renamable... not not exactly because of the next point. - "private methods", that would be declared in the same window (would look like another "start" but with parameters), which would help with debugging. But what I really want with this is the ability to access private/public fields in there. This change means "private fields" and "variables" are actually different things, as they wouldn't have the same scope. - Sub routines are nice, but functions would be way better: I want to be able to return a value. - Also, maybe being able to pass arguments by ref (instead of by val). - Being able to change the color of variables/fields would be nice too. Here is why I made these suggestions: - With the current sub-routines I can pass values, but only by val and not by ref, so I'm not able to change the values of fields/variables... unless I use the parameters of the sub-routine to return stuff too (I don't even know if that would work, I didn't try), but I would still need to add copy instructions after the call, which kinda defeats the purpose of making a function: to factorize stuff. - With labels, I can make separate sections in which I can still access fields/variables but I can't go back to wherever I called the thing, cause it was not a call, but a jump. Unless I can jump to a place defined by a variable maybe... but again, that means I need to add copy instructions, before the call, or rather the jump. So it would still be ugly.
